Today we received a call from the family of Marine Adam Wolfel. We feel encouraged when we receive phone calls from family members as it shows they don't want to be in the dark. They want to better understand what their sons and daughters are going through. This family knew very well about the suicide epidemic that plagues our military community and unfortunately they were not spared from it. We lost Adam to his hidden wounds. We are very proud of his service and sacrifice for our freedom. From what his family told us, Adam was always trying to take care of his brothers in arms not forgetting his creed to ever leave a man behind. We thank Adam for his commitment to our country and his Marines. We thank the Wolfel family for having the courage during a time of mourning to reach out to us and ask how they can help others. We hope to work with the Wolfel family to continue to raise awareness of PTS and to provide mental health resources to our heroes. Adam, you will not be forgotten. #GetintheFight #BreaktheStigma #NeverForgotten ... See MoreSee Less
Please take a moment and watch this three minute short film. This is an amazing true story told in a cartoon format by Marine Lance Corporal Travis Williams. Travis is the lone survivor of a 12 man team that was hit by an IED blast.
Not only does he tell his story but he also gives a call to action to those who suffer from survivors guilt and other #PTS related symptoms. He is 100% right when he says "It's just a whole lot easier if you're dead, but that shouldn't be your tribute to your dead friends...honor their memory by living the life they didn't get to live."
We echo that advice. We are here to help. Thank you Travis for sharing your story. We know it will save lives. #GetintheFight #BreaktheStigma #LiveforThem #HonorThem

Hello Hidden Wounds and Friends in Columbia! This is Bobby Sutton ,I am founding member of Project Healing Waters Saluda Chapter. I am also a musician and recently wrote and recorded an original song called "The Protectors" written as a salute to our fallen heroes in uniform. I Just heard back that I was welcome to post the song and I wanted to share it with you and anyone who would like to listen or download for free. It has reached a lot of folks in all our military branches ......and maybe for a few minutes made things a bit easier. The Band is "my big tomorrow" the song is called "The Protectors" I hope you enjoy and thank you for all you do!
A sad story to report. On average 22 Veterans and one active duty service member needlessly takes their life everyday. Jalyn Davon Jones from Ft. Campbell was only 19 and still in uniform when he was found. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow soldiers.
Visit Hiddenwounds.org to find out how you can support our heroes and let them know suicide is not the answer.
All proceeds from our upcoming battle of the bands will go directly to Hidden Wounds, and we're currently looking for corporate sponsors. If you know of a business that might be interested, please contact us!
